In the supercapacitor industry, the electrode is the component that sets the upper limit of device performance. For a long time, most manufacturers have relied on outsourced electrodes or purchased slurries for wet-coating production, which involves many intermediate steps and makes batch consistency difficult to control. Under harsh conditions such as high temperature, high humidity, and frequent charge-discharge cycles, both cycle life and energy density tend to suffer. Plannano has chosen to start from the electrode side, bringing dry electrode manufacturing in-house and using a shorter supply chain to push several key supercapacitor performance metrics up a notch.
1. In-House Dry Electrodes: Consistency in Our Own Hands
The dry electrode process eliminates solvent coating and drying steps; the electrode layer is formed directly on the current collector, resulting in a shorter process and a denser structure. By carrying out this step on its own production lines, Plannano can close the loop on everything from active material formulation and calendering thickness to electrode consistency in-house, rather than waiting passively on outsourced batches.
For downstream customers, this brings two immediate benefits: first, performance variation between capacitors from different batches is smaller, making replacement and parallel operation far less troublesome; second, delivery scheduling is no longer constrained by upstream electrode suppliers' production slots, leading to faster order response.
2. Energy Density About 10% Higher Than Conventional Solutions
Changes in electrode process ultimately translate into energy storage density. Under the same volume, Plannano's dry-electrode supercapacitor delivers approximately 10% higher energy density than conventional capacitor solutions. This 10% gap may sound modest — but in applications where installation space is extremely tight, it often means fewer parallel capacitors, a smaller module footprint, or an additional margin of stored energy without changing the existing structure.
As devices trend toward smaller and more portable designs, this 10% gain gives structural engineers genuine freedom in design.
3. DC Lifetime Exceeds 1,500 Hours Under High Temperature and Humidity
Scenes such as outdoor base stations, rail transit, and industrial energy storage cabinets are exposed to high temperatures and humidity throughout the year. Traditional capacitors are prone to electrolyte decay, increased internal resistance, and significantly reduced lifespan in such environments.
The DC life test results of Plannano dry process supercapacitor under high temperature and high humidity conditions exceeded 1500 hours. The more uniform structure and fewer interface defects inside the electrode allow the device to maintain relatively stable electrochemical behavior under humid and hot conditions, reducing the maintenance pressure of "capacity loss shortly after installation".
4. Cycle Life Beyond One Million Cycles
Frequent charge-discharge is where supercapacitors truly shine — regenerative braking, grid frequency regulation, engine start-stop systems, crane counterweights, and similar scenarios can rack up thousands of cycles a day. If cycle life is insufficient, replacement costs quickly eat away at the component's procurement value.
Plannano's dry-electrode supercapacitor offers a cycle life of more than 1,000,000 cycles. In long-duration, high-frequency applications, this means less downtime for replacement, lower total lifecycle cost, and more stable system performance.
5. Covering 3.0V and Higher High-Voltage Applications

The higher the cell voltage, the fewer series connections needed and the lower the voltage-balancing burden on the system. Plannano's dry-electrode supercapacitors are designed for 3.0V-and-above high-voltage capacitor platforms, matching mid-to-high voltage energy storage, industrial grids, and new energy support applications that require elevated cell voltage. Combined with the process stability of in-house electrodes, they continue to deliver reliable cycle performance even in the high-voltage range.
